Kathryn-kay Johnson (born in St. Andrew, Jamaica) is an American digital media and video artist. She utilizes appropriated media from contemporary advertising culture, along with text, fabric, audio, video, and digital fabrication processes to develop a sensorial fictive placemaking that is rooted in African Diasporic mythologies and a womanist perspective. Her work gives voice to the powerful, inarticulable, contradiction-filled crises and delights of the human experience. She is currently an MFA candidate at the Yale University School of Art.
